Wide Bay Motor Complex – Inaugural Rallysprint

Media release from event organisers –

Inaugural Rallysprint

Saturday 11th March 2017

Fast Cars, Fast Drivers and Big Skids!

Welcome to this exciting new Motorsport Complex. The Wide Bay Motor Complex is a ~306 ha Motorsport Facility situated between Maryborough and Tin Can Bay on the Fraser Coast.

The vision is to be the next Willowbank/Queensland Raceway style complex in Queensland. The strategic plan includes an International Drag strip, off-road course, Rallysprint and Khanacross facilities and skidpan as a start.

This is the Inaugural event for this complex, with a view to running up to 3 more Rallysprints in this series for 2017.   This Rallysprint event will see a total of 48km competitive run over 2 stages. The course is smooth and technical in places and fast in others. The surface changes from sandy to compact and should be easy on tyres. The track isn’t a car breaker and will allow a good opportunity for seat time for the start of the Rally season.

This is a speed event involving up to 30 rally cars from all over Qld. Competitors will include some Queensland Rally Champions both young and old, but also an Aussie Team who are recent Asia Pacific Rally Champions and expressions of interest include a former New Zealand Rally Champion.

The Spectator Point will allow you to see cars on both stages as they whip past you flying sideways.  Racing starts at 10am with Free entry for Spectators with Catering by the Maryborough Girl Guides.
