This weekend, Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of October, Warwick will play host to the ninth annual VW Drag Racing, the second all VW event of its kind for 2014. Australian Motorsport Photography are proud to be the official photographers for this event, with five of our team members heading out to the track on Sunday to capture the action.
The weekend kicks off with a street parade and stationary VW display on Saturday morning, through the heart of Warwick and concluding at Leslie Park. Saturday will consist of practice rounds for the drivers, closing the day with the much-anticipated VW Aircooled Tappet Racing event.
Our photographers will be present on the Sunday for the main event, a day of Round Robin competing, culminating in a grand final and ultimate winner. The track at Warwick will provide for some quality racing, featuring a 1/8th Mile length, and the perfect surface for amateurs to gain confidence and pros to go hard to beat their times and competitors, providing us with some spectacular opportunities for outstanding motorsport photography.
Sunday’s grand final event will also be a chance for interstate drivers to prove their state the best, with the tally going toward the State of Origin totals collected from the 2014 Sydney VW Drag Racing weekend. The overall winner of the event, and the winner of the State of Origin title, will be announced and trophies presented at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
The weekend will offer a range of other activities off-track, including market stalls, the VW Show ‘n’ Shine, and the VW Engine Pull Competition. Set to be a warm and wonderful weekend, the Australian Motorsport Photography team are excited to bring the 9th VW Drag Racing Weekend to life in a range of high-quality and action-packed images.
