The Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross series exploded into action on Saturday, with Brisbane’s Lakeside Raceway playing host to shakedown day.
The day offered drivers the chance to get their first taste of the new purpose-built track on Brisbane’s Northside, ahead of the first round which kicks off at Lakeside in early September.
It was the first time the track had been used for competition, and it did not disappoint.
Fans turned out in their droves for a first glimpse at the cars and drivers, who completed several laps on the track that saw them take on fast turns and huge jumps, all on a range of different surfaces.
As the driver’s became more confident on the newly designed track, fans also got to see drivers competing with each other, with up to five cars on track, all at one time.
The crowd who attended were also in for a huge treat, with rally superstar Alister McRae completing several laps around the Lakeside track, with his class and professionalism separating him from the pack.
The Australian Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross kicks off next month, with Brisbane playing host to round 1 on September 4 and 5.
