BMW Club NSW – Not just the BMW’s now..

The BMW Drivers Club NSW Motorsport department are actively encouraging people with other makes and models to attend their events, so not just BMWs . They have switched to CAMS multi-club events as of 2016. Their goal is maximum time on track for all competitors, whether it be your daily driver or a fully prepared race car. On the days as listed below, they will be carrying out 15 minute sessions with up to 4 groups at most of their events. Generally they have a maximum of 50 entrants, so seat time is generous.

Competitors are grouped according to their previously posted times for the morning sessions, and regrouped at lunchtime to ensure all people on the field are generally within the same time bracket. Seeing an old 1984 M635csi keeping pace with a 2004 E46 M3 is a fantastic sight to see!

Additional to Supersprint events, they also conduct Motorkhana events at Sydney Motorsport Park. Driver training days are held at Murulan Driver Training Centre for those people wanting to improve their driving skills. These events cater to people wanting to understand their car further and how to take evasive action on the road and/or wet.  These events are especially valuable for younger drivers who are in the process of obtaining, or just recently acquired, their drivers licence.

Club members do compete for trophies at the end of the year, and accrue points through class position on the day. As part of the club process the members can even accrue points for volunteering to marshal if their car is out for repair or they just need a rest. This is an amazing way to ensure you’re not penalised for assisting with the more ‘mundane’ tasks (plus you get a free lunch). The club also hosts day drives to varying scenic locales, car shows and various other activities to cater to all types.

This year the BMW Nationals are being held at Easter in QLD courtesy of the BMW Queensland and Gold Coast Clubs. As part of the event a supersprint will be held at Lakeside and a car show and various other activities around SE QLD.
