WRC – Rally Australia 2019???? – (WRC2 Monday Testing )

Bushfires set to impact Rally event !

NSW & QLD are currently burning and with “Catastrophic fire conditions” forecast tomorrow for all of NSW and most of Queensland, the 2019 FIA WRC Kennard’s Hire Rally Australia is in serious doubt?

The ARC component of the rally has already been cancelled.

This needs to be put in perspective, people have lost lives and others have lost all, end of the day this is only a car race!

If the event is to run at all I think it will be abbreviated and run on different roads, as most of the stages were set in forested sections of the area around Coffs Harbour. Currently all state forests are closed and not likely to open any time soon due to the bushfires.

Rally Australia officials will likely keep the ceremonial start, the special stages on the foreshore and the stages run at the Raleigh Speedway, maybe an abbreviated section of the Argents Hill stage, but apart from that there is nowhere the public and competitors can be safe.

Mother Nature has dealt Coffs and the organizers a cruel blow in 2019 as this will be the final time at the township of Coffs Harbour as New Zealand takes over in 2020.

Stay safe people, especially tomorrow, if the forecast is right the East Coast of Australia is in for it!!!

How tomorrow pans out will likely have a major bearing on the organizer’s direction, stay tuned.
